Premiership Football Conclusions: Week Fifteen
England experienced a cold front last week but by the time Saturday’s fixtures kicked off things were already warming up. Chelsea‘s draw against Everton sees manager Carlo Ancelotti sweating like never before. But Ancelotti isn’t the only manager in London feeling the heat. Avram Grant‘s West Ham can’t catch a break away from home and now sit rock bottom. Up North Carlos Tevez reacted angrily to being substituted after scoring the winner against Bolton, leaving only Arsene Wenger still cool as a cucumber as his compatriot Samir Nasri once again came to his side’s rescue, this time against Fulham.
Chelsea Lose the Fear Factor. When does a blip officially become something more serious? Five points garnered out of a possible 18 in their last six matches just might constitute a crisis for Chelsea Football Club. After a blitzkrieg start to the season, the goals have completely dried up for Chelsea‘s free-scoring bunch. Just as worryingly, the goals slipped through at the back, particularly at the once-impregnable Stamford Bridge. Chelsea couldn’t hold a late lead at home against a plucky Everton side. That the Toffees even believed they could equalize at Chelsea‘s home ground is indicative of Chelsea‘s sudden lack of invincibility. Opponents used to fear playing Ancelotti’s men. Not anymore.
