The English Manager is a Dying Breed

The English Manager is a Dying Breed

Not that surprising: There has always been a strong Scottish influence in England’s top division. If not on the field, then certainly on the touchline. The current crop of Scotsmen are merely following in the footsteps of Sir Matt Busby, Bill Shankly and Jock Stein. What is curious is how. How has Scotland produced such great managers, yet so few players in the mold of Dalglish?

Some attribute it to a Scottish character. Some point to stronger coaching academies and a tradition of managing. Whatever the reason, there’s still no chance of a Scotsman ever being given the chance to manage England.

Voila! No more English managers.
