Cruz to join Robinho..?
Santa Cruz to join the revolution…
As predicted in the press, Manchester City have bid for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz. The bid, thought to be in excess of 12 million pounds, was immediately rejected by Sam Allardyce with Rovers looking to hold out for an increased offer. The 27 year old Paraguayan joined Mark Hughes at Blackburn in the summer of 2007 for 3.5 million from Bayern Munich. In his first season in the Premier League he scored 19 goals in 37 appearances. Hughes is determined to get his man again and with the disposal of City’s new found riches, this transfer looks destined to go through sooner rather than later. The Roque / Robinho partnership is a mouth watering prospect. One question begs to be asked. Roque spent much of his final season in Germany on the Bayern bench. He had a strong first season for Blackburn making him a popular fantasy football signing. He has suffered an injury plagued sophmore season with 2 premiership goals in 8 appearances. On that basis why would Manchester City be willing to offer 20 million pounds in this economic market..?
