You're 'Avin a Lafferty
And the Oscar goes to…
Forget Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo, over the weekend a new, unexpected contender for the ‘best actor’ award announced his candidacy to world audiences. Kyle Lafferty’s comical tumble following a touching of noses with Aberdeen’s Charlie Mulgrew has sent shockwaves through Scottish football. Countless ‘experts’ have chimed in on the debate surrounding the incident, many critical of Glasgow Rangers’ measly fine of one week’s wages for a player who conned the referee and intentionally got a fellow professional sent off.
The term ‘cheat’ is too easily tossed around during football discussions but in this case it couldn’t be more on the money. While Rangers may well go on to win this year’s SPL, they sit 2 points clear at the top following the controversial 2-1 win over Aberdeen, the sour aftertaste left by Lafferty’s antics will haunt the club and the player for many seasons to come. Think Rivaldo against Turkey in World Cup 2002, but ten times worse.

Rivaldo falls to the ground clutching his face after being hit in the leg

Rivaldo but 10 times worse???
Well, that’s a statement! lol
