How Guardiola outfoxed Ferguson
See the video that inspired Barcelona to victory over Manchester United in Rome.
Shown to the Barca players in the changing room minutes before kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico, the short motivational film directed by coach Pep Guardiola features every player in the then double winning squad including youth players and assistant coaches. Interestingly Guardiola is absent from the proceedings.
Splicing Barca footage with clips from the Gladiator film, the video’s rousing soundtrack, ending with a stirring Nessun Dorma from Turnadot by Pavarotti, hit all the right notes as Barca destroyed United 2-0 on the night.

Barcelona reminded me of Liverpool in the 80s. The opposition never mattered, it was all about the team.
On the night, Manurited was too focused on history, not on the match. They assumed destiny was on their side.
Barca made destiny happen, even with a little luck and bad refereeing on their side.
