Los Madridistas finally got their man today as Kaka kick-started the Real revolution in style by signing on a six-year deal for a world record transfer fee of ₤59m. Kaka, who won the European and World Footballer of the year awards in 2007, spent six successful seasons at the San Siro winning the Champions League and Serie A titles. Involved in failed to discussions to move to the Premiership in January, Kaka joins a Madrid side buoyed by the return of the Galatico king and charismatic club president Florentino Perez.

Madrid break the bank for Kaka
The amount Madrid have splashed out for Kaka’s services smashes the previous world record transfer fee of ₤46m for Zinedine Zidane, paid out unsurprisingly by Real and Perez.
There is no argument that this transfer will alter the football landscape forever. Kaka will form a formidable attacking line-up at the Bernabeu that includes Wesley Sneijder, Raul and Arjen Robben. With the signing of the Brazilian, Florention Perez has issued a signal of intent to all the top clubs worldwide – money talks and no player is off limit. Big teams will now be looking over their shoulder hoping Madrid don’t come knocking on their door in search of the next Galactico.
But it is far too early to say if the ₤59m is money well spent. If Kaka can emulate the achievements of Zidane following his arrival from Serie A back in 2001 then Perez will be hailed a hero. Until then the debate will rage on with question marks raised over Perez’s ‘Galacticos’ ethos and AC Milan’s willingness to accept the money, half of what Man City were reportedly offering 6 months ago.

You must be kidding. The Galacticos didnt work last time (Beckham, Owen, et al) and they wont work this time. Ya need teamwork, strategy, energy and enthusiasm. Over-paid inconsiderate Galacticos will do nothing.
