Most Hated Men in Football

Having grown up playing footy with the likes of Ledley King, Jlloyd Samuel and Muzzy Izzet in the Bow area of East London, the boy with the good looks and even better looking wife consistently rubs footy fans the wrong way. Fans’ hatred can be traced back to his 2006 autobiography and several quotes relating to his Arsenal contract negotiations. Cole writes:

When I heard Jonathan Barnett (player’s agent) repeat the figure of £55K, I nearly swerved off the road. He (former Arsenal Director David Dein) is taking the piss Jonathan! I yelled down the phone. I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn’t believe what I’d heard.

Most football fans won’t see £55K in a year and here is Ashley Cole, a professional football player, complaining about such an amount per week. These quotes alienated Cole from the common fan and he became known as Cashley Cole ultimately got his desired salary increase but had to flee to West London and Chelsea to achieve it.

Ashley Cole‘s celebrity status and recent allegations of extra-marital affairs have only served to increase his unpopularity around the country. Only a few weeks ago, Cole was seen in the Collections nighclub in South Kensington chatting up a blonde while his wife Cheryl Cole was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaroo for charity.
