3D is Coming to Football
The plans are for ESPN 3D to broadcast at least 85 live sporting events during its first year, starting with the opening match of the World Cup – South Africa v Mexico – on the 11th of June. Up to 25 other World Cup matches will be broadcast – and we assume those will include the World Cup final and USA v. England, which would probably have been the most-watched soccer match in U.S. history anyway. Now there’s another reason to tune in. How this technology will actually be applied remains to be seen. Will the entire broadcast of a game be in 3D… or just certain segments like replays and close-ups? And what about those glasses? The missus already takes the piss out of us after an afternoon on the couch watching football – and now we are just going to look simply daft.
