In fact, Mourinho already fired one shot across Carlo Ancelotti’s bow shortly after the Champions League draw in December. “We won’t need to study them,” he said of Chelsea. “With the addition of Branislav Ivanovic and Nicolas Anelka, they are my old team.”
Ancelloti refused to take the bait, but as next month’s first leg draws nearer, Mourinho will no doubt try again. Ever since he proclaimed himself the Special One, we’ve seen Jose use every trick in the book to deflect the media’s attention away from his players and onto himself.
