Twenty-Seventh Week Premiership Football Conclusions
It’s been another monumental week in the world of Premiership football; Wolves beat Burnley in a classic relegation 6-pointer and the nation’s capital continues to thrive with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham taking up spots in the top four, despite West Ham struggling in 16th place.
Arsenal go completely Bendtner. Fresh from hitting a sensational hat-trick in their mid-week mauling of Porto in the Champions League, Nicklas Bendtner was at it again over the weekend, stealing in with a crucial 93rd minute winner to save Arsenal‘s Premiership challenge from being derailed at the KC Stadium. Despite going down to 10 men before the interval, Hull staunchly repelled Arsenal‘s quick-fire attacks and had the odd chance themselves. But the stats don’t lie and Arsenal, the team that scores the most goals in the last 10 minutes of a match, defeated Hull, the team that concedes the most goals in the last 10 minutes of a match.
Wolves edge closer to survival. A 6-pointer if there ever was such a thing. Tied on points prior to the match at Turf Moor, Wolves gave their Premier League survival hopes a massive boost by sinking Burnley deeper into relegation trouble. If Wolves do escape the drop come May 9th, they can look back at days like these and thank lady luck for shining her light. Burnley enjoyed long spells of possession and hit the woodwork through David Nugent and Robbie Blake efforts, but on the day couldn’t hit an elephant’s behind with a banjo.
