Not convinced? Well, the last time two Ligue Un clubs advanced to the Quarter-final, one of them came within 90 minutes of winning the competition – Monaco lost to FC Porto 3-0 in 2004-05 final with Lyon losing to PSV on penalties in the Quarter-finals.

Okay, so we’re not about to break out our Basile Boli Olympique Marseille kit from the 1992-93 winning side but things are certainly on the up for French football. With Thierry Henry‘s handball helping the French national side to the World Cup this summer, clearly the Gods are looking kindly on French football.
