It wasn’t so long ago when big burly defenders were all the rage in the Premiership and Joleon Lescott was the man of the hour. Times have changed for Lescott.

Ear-marked as a future England starter, Joleon Lescott‘s imperious displays in Everton‘s backline persuaded Manchester City‘s Sheikh Mansour to splash out £22 million on him only 12 months ago. Making him the third most expensive defender in the Premier League, Lescott‘s career has since dropped faster than John Terry‘s pants at a nightclub.

Neither good nor fit. Joleon Lescott‘s first season at the Eastlands can be characterized by fits and spurts of first team action littered between extended injury layoffs. The former Wolves favourite has tallied a rather unimpressive 18 appearances and 1 goal since moving from Goodison Park. Even Sheikh Mansour can’t afford too many more duds like that.
