Robinho’s Future Up For Grabs?
Robinho doesn’t want to play for Manchester City again but the Sky Blues have thus far failed to find a suitable buyer for the Brazilian. Along with his exorbitant transfer fee (remember, Manchester City paid £32 million for him 24 months ago), Robinho commands super-human wages. If interested clubs don’t baulk at his price they run when they see his salary.
Manchester City are hoping to recoup a major part of the £32 million they originally paid Real Madrid for Robinho. But if this summer’s transfers are anything to go by, Manchester City themselves are the only club rich enough to afford that sort of gamble. Several of the reportedly interested clubs are hoping that when Robinho does finally return to Manchester, the situation will become so untenable for coach Roberto Mancini that Manchester City are forced to review their strategy on Robinho and lower their asking price. Whether Manchester City are willing to write off Robinho‘s fee and swallow £32 million of pride remains to be seen. History shows Robinho always gets his own way.
