The Premier League’s Most Expensive Ticket

The Premier League’s Most Expensive Ticket

The Premiership isn’t a poor man’s game. The league is littered with wealthy owners and almost as wealthy players. As players wages have skyrocketed in recent years so too have ticket prices to watch the world’s most famous stars. No longer can you get in any of the top flight grounds with a fiver but some clubs are cheaper than others.

Based on the cheapest adult matchday ticket bought by a person who isn’t a club member, Wigan Athletic is officially the cheapest English Premier League club to visit. At £15 Wigan offer the least expensive matchday experience. (Least enjoyable too… How can Wigan’s executives demand any more when their side is turned over 4-0 to Blackpool on opening day?)

A visit to watch Liverpool is the most expensive in the top flight. The cheapest matchday ticket at Anfield will set punters back £37, chump change if you’ve ever dreamed of singing “You’ll never walk alone” with the Kop. The Press Association‘s recent research for MSN Money shows a direct correlation between Premier League success and ticket prices but there are a number of clubs who are ripping off their fans. Incidentally, Aston Villa are pound for pound the most rewarding side to watch. Not only are their tickets an affordable £23 but they finished sixth last season, more than justifying their 13th most expensive tickets in the league.
