What an amazing week in the world of Premiership football: Chelsea continue to steamroll the opposition, Manchester City‘s millionaires throw down an early season marker, Spurs stutter to victory over Stoke and Newcastle United joined the party by hitting Aston Villa for six.

Boring Boring Chelsea. Fresh from thrashing West Brom 6-0 in their Premiership opener, Chelsea notched another six, this time against Wigan. Forget the boring, yet highly effective football played under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, Carlo Ancelotti‘s Chelsea have bagged 12 goals in their first two matches of the campaign confirming the ghost of the Special One has left the building.

Sheikh Revival. Manchester City‘s expensively assembled team marked Sheikh Mansour‘s first visit to Eastlands in style by dumping Liverpool 3-0. City cruised to victory over Roy Hodgson‘s men even without the injured Mario Balotelli and the bench warming duo of David Silva and Emmanuel Adebayor. After spending £130 million of Sheikh Mansour‘s money on players this past summer, Roberto Mancini will know he’ll need more than three points against the struggling Reds to convince his paymaster of his worth.
